Michael always called Calvin Cook “the father of the African Enterprise South African ministry”. Presbyterian minister, one time moderator of the Presbyterian Church of South Africa and Professor of Religion (Wits University) and of Church History (Rhodes University). He engineered the first mission invitation to Pietermaritzburg in 1962, to Wits University in 1967, and to Johannesburg in 1970, and finally to Rhodes University in 1972. He was probably the deepest face to face personal mentor Michael ever had. He asked Michael to preach at his funeral, which he did in December 2011.
