One of the great missiologists, Ralph Winter founded the Fuller Theological Seminary School of World Mission (now the School of Intercultural Studies) alongside Donald Mc Gavran. He also founded the U.S Center for World Mission, William Carey International University, and the International Society for Frontier Missiology. He presented at the Congress for World Evangelisation in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1974, which is described as a watershed moment in the history of the Church’s response to global mission. He was known as the first major expositor of the Homogeneous Unit Principle in mission, which purports that people are best reached within homogeneous rather than heterogeneous units. Ralph was a great encouragement to Michael Cassidy and to African Enterprise.
